President Akufo-Addo has in a 20-page statement addressed to the coalition of CSOs, explained his side of the story regarding the events that culminated in the unceremonious retirement of former auditor general, Daniel Yao Domelevo.
President Akufo-Addo began his statement by narrating the circumstances under which Mr Domelevo was appointed in the dying hours of the erstwhile Mahama administration.
According to the President, Mr Domelevo was not the initial Choice of Former President Mahama for Auditor General, but was strangely proposed to replace Dr. Felix Aveh who had earlier been proposed.
The statement continues that Mr Domelevo was rushed through council of state approval and appointed as Auditor General on 30th December 2016, barely a week to the expiration of Mr Mahama’s tenure.
President Akufo-Addo accused Mr Mahama of deliberately saddling his government with an Auditor General whose allegiance was to the former President.
