Decongest Kumasi Or We Will Do It Ourselves – Bantamahene Warns Government

The Bantamahene, Baffuor Owusu Amankwatia VI has warned the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly that the Nananom of the Kumasi Traditional Council may be forced to take up decongestion of the City of Kumasi themselves if government fails to act.

According to the Bantamahene, the KMA’s inability to act is turning the once beautiful city of Kumasi into a village.

The Bantamahene accused the KMA and the assembly members of taking money and granting permission for kiosks to be placed anyhow.

According to Baffuor Amankwatia, it is wrong that traders are allowed to sell even on pavements but once these traders receive permission from the KMA, they no longer care about the authority of Nananom.

“Decongestion issues are so serious in Kumasi that you even have traders selling tomatoes in front of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital”, Bantamahene lamented.
