Cut Off My Head If NDC Wins The 2024 Election – NPP National Youth Organizer Declares

Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared his unwavering confidence in the party’s ability to retain power in the upcoming 2024 general elections. Addressing party members at a recent event, Mustapha boldly asserted his conviction by challenging for his head to be chopped off if the NPP fails to win.

In a video circulating online, Mustapha emphatically stated, “We are not losing the election; let nobody try to convince you NPP is going to lose. I am telling you, if we lose this election, I keep on telling people, ‘cut off my head.’ That is the level of my confidence going into that election.” His confidence is rooted in the NPP’s numerical advantage, particularly in their stronghold, the Ashanti Region.

Mustapha highlighted the significant impact of Greater Kumasi, noting that its 11 constituencies alone offset the votes from about five to six regions. He emphasized that if the NPP can secure 75% of the vote in the Ashanti Region, victory in the election is assured. “In 2020, the NDC had about 600,000 votes in Ashanti Region, which is more than what they got in their own Volta Region. Numbers; that is why I keep saying we need to keep paying attention to the numbers. If we drop the NDC votes in Ashanti Region and the NPP is able to hit 75%, this election is done,” he explained.

Mustapha also dismissed claims from the NDC that they could win the election with a significant margin. He pointed to current polling trends indicating that the NPP is gaining ground while the NDC’s support is declining. “Last year or early this year, they said they were going to win the election with 58%, and I told someone these people are mad. It is true, the NDC can never win an election with even 52%; they don’t have the numbers. You can quote me anywhere, and any day I will defend it,” he asserted.

The 2024 general election is shaping up to be a fiercely contested battle between the NPP and the NDC as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo completes his second term. Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, has chosen Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former energy minister and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, as his running mate. They will face off against former President John Dramani Mahama and former Minister for Education, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who are leading the NDC’s ticket.

With both parties gearing up for a competitive campaign season, Salam Mustapha’s confident declaration reflects the high stakes and intense preparations underway as the 2024 elections draw nearer.
