An Accra High Court has denied a bid by United Front Party (UFP)’s Nana Agyenim Boateng to suspend the 2020 elections due to unfair treatment meted on him by the Electoral Commission.
Mr Boateng prayed the court to put an injunction on the elections after the EC disqualified him from being a Presidential candidate in this year’s elections.
Insisting his disqualification by the EC had no basis, he prayed the court to put an order of prohibitory injunction restraining EC from conducting the 2020 Presidential election without him (Boateng) as a candidate.
However, the court presided over by Mrs. Justice Ruby Aryeetey, held that Mr. Boateng was given a hearing by the EC and was even informed on his disqualification.
Weighing the matter on balance of scale, the court held that the country at large stood the chance of suffering more than Mr Boateng.
