Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak has disclosed that the NDC caucus’ failure to reject some three appointees of President Akufo-Addo was due to the absence of some of its members due to Covid-19.
Speaking in a yet-to-be-broadcasted interview on Adom TV, the Asawase lawmaker indicated that the fracas that happened in Parliament on January 7, led to some MPs on the Minority side contracting the Coronavirus and therefore they had to take precaution this time round.
“A number of our members thought we had the power to reject them. After 6th and 7th when we engaged in that fracas and the Soldiers came in, we all came to the middle of the chamber to sing and after what we did, 23 of our members got COVID,” he was quoted by mynewsgh.
So before we were going into the chamber me as whip I reported that I didn’t have seven of my members, till now some of my members are at the COVID center. Did we really have what it takes to do what people expected us to do? We didn’t,” he said.
