The member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Honaroble Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has adviced the Ghana financial minister Ken Ofori-Atta to contact Chairman Wontumi for a bailout instead of stressing to approve E-Levy.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page, he wrote;
“It seems we should urge Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to contact Chairman Wontumi for a bailout.
Why go through all that stress pleading with Ghanaians at tortuous town halls to accept the obnoxious $1bn worth E-Levy when Wontumi can easily rescue Ghana before saving Chelsea? ”
The comments of Okudzeto comes as a background to the the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly referred to as ‘Chairman Wontumi’s bid of $3.1billion to purchase English Football Club, Chelsea.
Many Ghanaians has reacted to the bid submitted to buy Chelsea. Okudzeto believes that, the finance minister can go to Chairman Wontumi for help instead of putting in all effort to get the E-Levy approved.
