Constituents In Awe As Bawumia Defies Heavy Rains To Campaign In NDC Stronghold

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), demonstrated his determination to win the 2024 general elections by defying a heavy downpour during a campaign in Ashaiman, a known opposition stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Despite the looming threat of rain as his team traveled from Kpone to Ashaiman, Bawumia persisted in his engagements. Upon arriving in Ashaiman, the rain started, but the Vice President, dressed in a blue and white traditional smock, opted to continue his schedule rather than postpone it. Venturing into Zenu market, he walked through the rain, greeting traders and exchanging pleasantries, to the surprise of many. His gesture earned admiration from the market women, with some promising their support in the December 7 polls, chanting “it is possible.”

One trader expressed deep gratitude for the NPP’s Free Senior High School policy, recounting how it relieved her family of the financial burden of educating two children. She praised President Akufo-Addo as a “Messiah” and called the policy a life-saving intervention for her family.

During various stops, Bawumia emphasized his commitment to improving the lives of the poor and vulnerable. He pointed to his efforts in government, including his role as patron of Lepers Aide Ghana and his initiatives to make dialysis treatment free for people under 18 and over 60 years old, as evidence of his dedication to uplifting those in need.

He also highlighted his digitalization agenda, noting how it reduces opportunities for corruption and ensures easier access to services like passport applications and electricity purchases. Bawumia affirmed his belief that under his presidency, Ghana would become a better place, especially for the less privileged, thanks to his innovative policies aimed at making life easier for all citizens.
