Collapsed Banks: What Are You Doing For The Dead? Will You Raise Them To Life And Pay Them Too? – Mahama Quizzes Gov’t

Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has quizzed the Akufo Addo led government whether they’ll resurrect persons who have lost their lives due to locked up funds in collapsed banks and pay them too.

This follows a U-turn by the government to pay customers of collapsed financial institutions with cash instead of the proposed five-year bonds.

Addressing separate rallies in Tuobodom, Krobo, Aworowa and Techiman, all in the Bono East Region over the weekend, John Mahama bemoaned why the government had to take that long to pay customers, noting that government even took the decision because the NDC promised to pay when they win power.

“We said in our manifesto that we are going to fully pay these customers, then just recently government told us that they have changed their mind and will fully pay the customers. So all these while government had the financial muscle to pay these customers and they were playing sakawa game with them that they will pay them after five years. Okay, pay give them but what about those who are dead because of the agony they went through over their locked up capital? Will the government raise them from the dead and pay them and those who are sick and bedridden?” he quizzed.
