Chiefs And People Of Akyem To Demonstrate Against Mahama And NDC Over ‘Akyem Sakawa’ Comments

The Chiefs and people of the three Akyem states; Abuakwa, Bosome and Kotoku, all in the Eastern Region have served a notice of a massive demonstration against the flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama and his party for the ‘Akyem Sakawa Boys’ comment.

Former President John Dramani Mahama came under a lot of attack last week when he endorsed and shared a write-up made by Bolga Central MP, Isaac Adongo in which he referred to certain elements in the NPP as ‘Akyem Sakawa Boys’.

It appears the uproar surrounding the supposed “ethnocentric comment” and the open endorsement by the former President is not going away soon as the Akyem States have threatened a mammoth demonstration over the issue.

According to the official notice of the impending demonstration, the main aim of the exercise is to “Protest against bigotry comments made against the chiefs and people of Akyem Abuakwa, Bosome and Kotoku by the flagbearer and leader of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama.”
