The Chief Justice, Kwasi Anin Yeboah is currently in hot waters after the council of state presented their resolution on his removal from office to the President.
The action by the Council is in line with a petition for the removal from office of the learned chief justice, which was forwarded from the office of the president.
It will be recalled that a few weeks ago, pressure group, ASEPA presented a petition to the President, calling for the removal of the CJ.
ASEPApetitioned President Akufo-Addo over allegations that the Chief Justice had demanded a US$5million bribe and received part of it from a litigant Ogyeedom Obranu Kwasi Atta Vl.
The allegation had been made by the Lawyer of the Chief, Akwasi Afrifa, who had revealed in a petition that his client had told him to make the bribe available so that his case with the Ghana Telecom company and the Lands Commission can be decided in his favor.
According to Lawyer Akwasi Afrifah, his client had told him that the Chief Justice had also asked him to replace him (Akwasi Atta) with Lawyer Akoto Ampaw, personal lawyer of President Akufo-Addo in the case.
Chief Justice Anin Yeboah has since denied the allegation and dragged the lawyer to the General Legal Council.
He has also caused the Police to open an investigation into the matter.
Per the standard procedure, the president is supposed to forward the petition to the Council of State for a resolution to be made, after which the president takes the next action.
It is unclear at the moment what the resolution has come to.
