Chereponi: 12 NPP Supporters Arrested Over Disturbances Related To DCE Nomination

Twelve persons believed to be NPP supporters have been arrested in Chereponi in the North East Region after the disturbances that occured in the District following the announcement of Madam Zuweatu Mada Nashiru as District Chief Executive(DCE) of the area.

The suspects have been identified as Kwabena Menteng,43, Iddrisu Abdul-Rahaman,42, Sumaila Ibrahim,16, Kasim Abdul-Aziz,28, Kasim Latif,65 and Ibrahim Awuffor, 23.

The rest are Osman Yussif,36, Mohammed Abdul-Latif,29, Fuseini Bawah ,30, Kwame Mahamud,31, Bashiru Ayabli,29, and Arimiyaw,22.

The twelve were picked up after an operation by the North East Regional Police Command.

Immediately after the announcement of the metropolitan, municipal and district Chief Executives (MMDCEs) nominees by the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Dan Botwe, the angry supporters stormed the party’s constituency office, broke into it and vandalised everything.

According to the protestors, the Nominee is a staunch NDC supporter, and a daughter of a former DCE during the John Mahama administration, hence their opposition.
