Carlos Ahenkorah’s Behaviour ‘Unfortunate’, John Boadu Advises Party Mate to Be in Self Isolation

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) John Boadu has termed as ‘unfortunate’, Carlos Ahenkorah’s decision to visit voters’ card registration while positive for Coronavirus.

John Boadu called on the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry to immediately self isolate. In his view, Mr Ahenkorah should not have even been granting interviews while positive for the virus.

Mr Ahenkorah who is also the Tema West Member of Parliament was spotted at some Electoral Commission registration centres in his constituency.

Speaking to some media stations on Thursday July 2, he explained that he only broke the isolation because he is asymtomatic.

He also disclosed that he was at the bedside of the Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, on Wednesday, July 1, when he died. Mr Afriyie is suspected to have died of the Coronavirus.

Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues, John Boadu expressed his displeasure at his fellow party mate for refusing to self isolate.

“I don’t know which doctor advised that even when he has been discharged from the hospital he can still go around observing [the ongoing registration exercise] in the midst of a lot of people,” John Boadu noted.

“I think that it is wrong,” the former National Organiser of the NPP said.

“For us as a party we are advising him that it is unfortunate, it is improper for him to go round monitoring the registration exercise.

“I think leadership should show by example,” he said, citing how some ministers of state have gone into self-isolation after testing positive for the virus,” he said.

Mr Boadu however said calls for his resignation is ‘overstretched’ because his colleague hasn’t broken any law.

“What all of us are saying is that since he has tested positive, it will be better and appropriate on his part to self-isolate.

“If you say he has broken a certain law, I doubt,” he said.
