Cape Coast: Akufo-Addo’s Harbour Pronouncement Leaves Bawumia Looking Like A Disgraced ‘Clown’ As Ghanaians Wonder Which Of Them Is Lying

If any resident of Cape Coast or any concerned Ghanaian had any iota of hope or expectation that the Government was going to construct a harbour in the Central Regional capital, that individual may have to revise their notes.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made a definite pronouncement which is in total conflict with a pronouncement made by his second in command, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia when the Party launched its manifesto on Cape Coast soil prior to the 2020 elections.

According to President Akufo-Addo, that infrastructure project was never a part of the list of commitments tabled before him for his second term.

“The commitment was never to a harbour; it was to a landing site,” he said on Cape Coast-based Eagle FM on Monday.

Like an unplanned, poorly rehearsed orchestra, the President’s pronouncement has left his right hand man with eggs all over his face like an excited bride-to-be who suffered the indignity of farting before her soon-to-be inlaws.

“I never said I was going to build a harbour in Cape Coast. I said I was going to build a landing site like what I’ve done in these six other places in the Central Region. Cape Coast will also have its landing site, and the construction of that will start next year.” The President claimed.

During his address at the launch of the party’s manifesto in August 2020, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia also disclosed that “for the people of Cape Coast, I have good news for you. We are building a new harbour in Cape Coast and a new airport in Cape Coast.”
