By-election Looming At Dome Kwabenya As Parliament Prepares To Declare Seat Vacant Following MP’s Absenteeism

The member of parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo has once again refused to attend a meeting convened by the privileges committee of Parliament to explain her constant absenteeism from the business of the house since the beginning of the year.

The latest meeting which was convened via zoom to make it convenient for the MP who is currently in the United States, could not materialize after she failed to join.

Adwoa Safo, also a substantive minister for gender, children and social protection, has abandoned her ministry since last year for unclear reasons.

With the Minister unwilling to explain her absence from parliamentary duties, this portal has learned that the house may be forced to declare her seat vacant and call for a by-election.

This portal has also picked up credible information that the NPP would not mount a challenge should parliament decide to declare the Dome Kwabenya seat vacant and call for a by-election.
