Burundi’s President, General Évariste Ndayishimiye, has issued a directive ordering the dismissal of all married government officials who engage in extramarital affairs.
Burundi’s military head stated that this is a positive step toward moralizing society.
Every married government official who engages in extramarital affairs risks being dismissed, according to the directive.
All married government personnel who have illicit unions outside their marriages would be fired, according to Minister of Internal Security Gervais Ndirakobuca, who announced the decision.
They claim that this action is in commemoration of the late Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza, who declared his desire to moralize Burundi in May 2017.
