Women have been urged to practice self breast examination to detect early signs of breast cancer.
Esther Dankwa, midwifery officer at the Kaneshie Polyclinic said every woman after their menses must make it a point to conduct a personal massage of the breast to check for lumps, discharge from the nipple or any other unusual sign.
She said breast cancer when detected early can be treated, noting that it is very painful treating it in the latter stages.
She made this known during a breast cancer talk with students organised by the New Times Corporation at the Labone Senior High School.
Explaining the decision to hold breast cancer talk with the students, Emmanuel Amponsah, Editor of the Spectator said a lot of education must be given to ladies including teenagers who are not spared.
He said these teenagers in schools can spread the word and teach their parents, friends and family about breast cancer and the need for self examination and the importance of seeking prompt medical attention.
