‘Boot For Kaba’ In Ayawaso Wuogon As Dumelo Pressure Forces Maa Lydia To Start Dredging

The Parliamentary contest in Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency between the incumbent NPP MP, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, and the NDC’s candidate, John Dumelo gets interesting at the turn of each passing day.

Though many had initially written off actor John Dumelo’s chances of breaking the NPP’s stranglehold on the elitist Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, there has been little doubt that Dumelo has given Maa Lydia a good run for her money.

In the wake of the unfortunate flooding in some parts of Accra including Ayawaso Wuogon over the weekend, photos of John Dumelo in his wellington boots touring flooded areas to console dejected constituents whose properties had been overrun by the water, broke the internet in record speed.

A few moments later, photos of Incumbent MP, Maa Lydia also in wellington boots broke the internet as well. The MP could be seen clad in a white ‘kaba and slit’, probably because she might just have been returning from church.

What is interesting to note about this particular constituency is the fact that the two aspiring MP’s are so quick to outdo and outperform each other, a situation which will ultimately inure to the benefit of constituents should it be sustained.

A few months ago, John Dumelo was stopped by the municipal assembly from dredging some choked drains on the claim that the exercise was within their planned agenda. Probably, the assembly wanted to prevent Dumelo from taking the MP’s shine.

Interestingly, the assembly, even though they prevented the NDC candidate from carrying out the exercise, also conspicuously failed to do as planned, leaving the people at the mercy of the rains.

It is also interesting to note that immediately after the floods came destroying people’s property, the assembly under the aegis of the incumbent MP, have finally began dredging the choked drains.

It appears Dumelo doesn’t necessarily need to go to parliament to get development for his constituents, he just need to get a pair of wellington boots, pick his camera and pretend to be bringing development, Maa Lydia will immediately conjure money from the skies and actualize the developmental agenda.
