Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, has quashed speculations about his potential independent candidacy in the upcoming December 7 elections. Speaking at his 64th birthday celebration on Sunday, June 16, Agyapong reiterated his unwavering commitment to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), dispelling rumors of his resignation from the party.
Addressing an audience of constituents and party supporters, Agyapong firmly stated, “What I want all the party faithful to know is that I have not resigned from the party. I am not going independent. I’m still an NPP member.” His declaration comes amidst swirling rumors suggesting a possible breakaway from the NPP, which he categorically denied.
The outspoken MP emphasized the necessity of unity within the party ranks as they gear up for the imminent electoral battle. He acknowledged the recent turbulence surrounding the party’s primaries and called on his supporters to rally behind Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, to secure victory in the forthcoming elections.
