Being Gay Is Not A Human Right; Prove Otherwise If You Disagree – Sam George

Member of Parliament for Ningo prampram, Sam George says being homosexual is not part of the fundamental human rights.

Mr George is part of some eight legislators who are spearheading the fight against same-sex relationships in the country. They are Sam George, Ho West MP, Emmanuel Bedzrah, MP for Kpando, Della Adjoa Sowah, John Ntim Fordjour, the MP for Assin South.

A private member bill sighted on social media against the involvement, promotion, propagation, advocacy, support or funding for LGBTQI+ related activities has sparked debates all over.

The bill seeks to to criminalise LGBTQ+ activities in Ghana.

Speaking to Joy News, Sam George called out lawyers and other critics who believe homosexuality forms part of human rights in Ghana to come out and attest to it.

“Homosexuality is not a fundamental human right. Show me where in the 1992 Constitution, it says that sexual preference is a fundamental human right. The laws of Ghana are clear. I challenge anybody, any lawyer in this country to show me. Homosexuality is a human preference, it is not a fundamental human right,” he said.
