Be Honorable And Apologise, Don’t Explain Your Actions – Security Expert to Hawa Koomson

Security Analyst, Col (retd) Festus Aboagye has advised Awutu Senya East parliamentarian Mavis Hawa Koomson to apologise for firing a gun at a voter registration centre on Monday, July 20.

Speaking on Joy News, he said action by the Minister of Special development initiatives was illegal under the Vigilantism and Related Offences Act passed in 2019.

“The honourable thing to do is to take responsibility and apologise and not try to explain your actions,” he said.

Mavis Hawa Koomson, explaining her action said she showed up at the registration centre because she heard her opponent had bused people to the place.

“I’m a Member of Parliament, I need to protect myself. It was at dawn, my police escort had not started work yet. So that is a mechanism I have adopted in his absence,” she said.

However, Col (retd) Festus Aboagye insisted that her actions were unacceptable and a threat.

“The use of violence to intimidate her political opponents and the idea that she has organized herself as a member of a political party, as a leader to undertake those activities falls squarely in the provision of Act 999,” he stressed.
