Former President Mahama’s assistant Felix Kwakye Ofosu has criticized Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s relative quiet on Ghana’s present economic situation.
“He’s completely vanished from the economics department.” Mr. Ofosu remarked on Eyewitness News that “he has gone into hiding and is avoiding conversation on the economy like the plague.” Mr. Ofosu believes Dr. Bawumia is well aware of the economy’s deterioration and is attempting to prevent it.
“With a long pole, he doesn’t want to touch it.” He refuses to accept responsibility for the disaster he has presided over.”
Mr. Ofosu also questioned the government’s lack of clarity, claiming that it “has not been forthright with any plan.” “If you say you don’t want to go to the IMF, what is your credible strategy to restore economic confidence and keep the economy from collapsing?” He inquired.
Mr. Ofosu also slammed the government’s response to the current economic assessment by rating agencies.
The government, for example, disagreed with Fitch and Moody’s ratings, which labeled Ghana as unstable and regressing.
