Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr has admonished Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for claims that former president John Dramani Mahama blew the cost of four interchanges on the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange.
Dr Bawumia in a townhall meeting last Tuesday dislcosed that the NPP government is building the Tema, Pokuase , and Obetsebi Lamptey interchanges in the Greater Accra Region and Tamale interchange in the Northern region, all at a total cost of $289million. Meanwhile John Mahama spent $260million on Nkrumah Interchange alone.
Reacting to this on Pan African TV, Mr Pratt described Bawumia as an ‘illiterate’, “uninformed and sickening”, who doesn’t know there are several factors that goes into construction of roads.
According to Mr. Pratt, the Circle Interchange would cost much higher because it was built with steel while Pokuase Interchange was also built with concrete hence it’s impossible to compare the two in terms of price.
He said, “I am heavily disappointed because basic rule of logic of engineering was completely ignored in the analysis. That two interchanges must cost the same as another two interchanges, what kind of argument is that? What level of illiteracy is that? This is illiteracy, I can’t believe it. This is not the kind of analysis we expect from a primary school child”.
