Bagbin Accepts Okudzeto’s Resignation from Appointments Committee of Parliament
The Right Honorable Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has accepted the resignation of MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa from the Appointments Committee of Parliament.
Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa tendered in his resignation to the Speaker of Parliament, resigning from the Appointments committee of the House yesterday, citing personal reasons.
His resignation came after the controversial consensus approval of finance minister Ken Ofori Atta which has drawn much criticism from the rank and file of the NDC.
In a letter dated March 30, addressed to the Speaker, Alban Kingsford Bagbin, Okudzeto explained that this was “after days of careful reflection and thoughtful considerations.
Mr Ablakwa indicated to the Speaker that his resignation takes immediate effect, meaning he will not be on the committee for the approval of President Akufo-Addo’s deputy minister nominees.
Following the receipt of his letter, the Speaker invited the honorable MP for deliberations, after which, he accepted the resignation.
Mr Ablakwa posted on his Facebook page that the Right Honorable Speaker had accepted his resignation.
