General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia says the party was never behind the #fixthecountry campaign.
The campaign called on government to address the issues that have plagued the Ghanaian society over the years, particularly high cost of living and bad governance.
This made some members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) accused the NDC of being the masterminds behind the campaign.
However, Asiedu Nketia in an interview on UTV noted that the NDC was never behind the campaign, explaining that they refused to back the campaign because the NPP would have taken the opportunity to turn it into politics.
“If we did that; NPP would have used us as the mobilizing tool; helping them in the end”
“Moreover, these are issues we’ve raised already and it’s good individuals have taken them up and leading the fight. Joining them will change it into an NDC, NPP affair” he said.
