Three teenage girls are in police custody in the Ashanti Region for the alleged murder of Dennis Owusu Ansah, a 16-year-old recent Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduate. The tragic incident occurred on Monday evening in Anloga, Ashanti Region, following a reported dispute between Dennis and one of the girls.
Eyewitness accounts reveal that the incident unfolded around 7:30 p.m. as the girls were escorting a friend home. During the altercation, one of the girls allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Dennis in the rib, causing severe bleeding. Dennis was rushed to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The victim’s family is devastated, with his mother, Stella Frimpong, and his brother, Evans Owusu Ansah, voicing their grief and calling for justice. Stella Frimpong mentioned that Dennis was set to begin his studies at Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School on Thursday, November 7, 2024, and appealed to authorities to ensure justice is served. “The child has indeed passed, so please, authorities should ensure that justice is served,” she said.
Evans Owusu Ansah echoed this plea, expressing disbelief over the incident and urging government intervention to ensure accountability. “What we the family require is that the government assist and ensure that justice is served because you can’t kill a boy just like that,” he stated, adding his shock at a teenager committing such a violent act.
The family and community are hopeful that a thorough investigation will provide clarity and lead to justice in this tragic case.
