Ashanti NPP Zongo Opinion Leaders Worried Over Leadership Crisis In The Party

A group calling itself, Ashanti New Patriotic Party (NPP) Zongo Opinion Leaders has described as worrying the quality of leadership style in the party within the region.

The group claims the party is battling leadership crisis, thus, affecting the party’s chance to winning the 2024 election.

Recently held elections of polling station and constituency executives were marred with confusion leading to some constituencies resorting to the court to seek for redress.

Breaking the eight, according to the group, will be a mirage if steps are not taking to unite all members.

Addressing the media in Kumasi, a former Vice Chairman of NPP in the region, Alhaji Shuaib Musah Shariff noted “the quality of the leadership style as seen today as not the best compared to the previous ones. It is mainly centered on one man show. The drop in percentage from 76.22% to 71.64% in 2016 and 2022 respectively is a reflection of disunity. This has to be addressed within the shortest possible time to save the party further embarrassment come 2024”.

The group also wants suspended party members to be called back for the sake of unity.

“We should not allow people to feel cheated and peeved during an internal election as that may lead to apathy during the general election as experienced during the last election. A situation where some people are suspended for campaigning whilst others are left off the hook for same offence does not augur well for the unity of the party. We appeal to all who matter in the party to bring suspended party faithful back into the mother NPP”.

Party members have been advised to vote and choose leaders who can serve the best interest of the party and not because of their wealth.
