The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is set to welcome His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini at the Manhyia Palace as part of a four-day state visit aimed at enhancing diplomatic and cultural cooperation between the two nations.

King Mswati arrived in Ghana on Tuesday, June 24, where he held high-level discussions with President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House in Accra. The visit underscores the growing bilateral relations between Ghana and Eswatini, with expectations of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) being signed to formalize key areas of partnership.

Ashanti Region Welcomes King Mswati

Following his engagements in Accra, the Eswatini monarch proceeded to the Ashanti Region, where he was received by Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, members of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), and a delegation from Manhyia Palace led by Juabenhene Nana Otuo Serebuo.

In his welcome address, Dr. Amoakohene highlighted the Ashanti Region’s pivotal role in trade, industry, and African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) integration. He emphasized that King Mswati’s visit symbolizes a shared vision for intra-African collaboration, particularly in culture, education, and tourism.

“The Ashanti Region stands ready to lead in this transformative agenda,” the Minister stated, reinforcing the potential for deeper economic and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

Strengthening Traditional Diplomacy

During his stay in Kumasi, King Mswati is scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to the National House of Chiefs, further solidifying the bond between West and Southern Africa’s traditional leadership. The engagement underscores the increasing role of monarchs in fostering pan-African unity beyond political diplomacy.

This historic visit not only celebrates the rich cultural heritage of both nations but also sets the stage for enhanced cooperation in trade, education, and tourism, aligning with broader African development goals.
