Angry Kwesimintim Residents Prevent EC Officials From Assessing Polling Stations As They Burn Tyres Over Poor Roads

Some residents of Whindo in the Kwesimintim constituency in the Western region early Monday morning blocked roads to stop officials of the Electoral Commission from assessing polling stations as they burnt tyres in protest over the poor nature of their roads.

According to a report on Peace FM, the timely arrival of heavily armed police/military personnel put the residents in disarray as efforts were made to clear the road to make it accessible.

However, no arrest has been effected as the culprits took to their heels.

The report further indicated that no authority in the community had hint of the action or plan to stop the EC from accessing the polling stations. The Police is still on the ground ensuring that the polls take place successfully.

Voting is expected to commence across the country at exactly 7:00 am GMT prompt.
