Alan Lead Bawumia In NPP Race – Poll

The second national tracking poll by Global InfoAnalytics from the 16 regions of Ghana saw a fight back by Trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen in the race to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2024.

The poll indicated that he came from behind to lead Dr Mahamudu Bawumia by 36 percent to 33 percent.

The Vice President had a commanding lead but was overtaken by Mr Kyerematen.

The poll saw the Trades and Industry Minister sweep the critical regions to take the lead.

In what was a reversal of fortune, Mr Kyerematen won all the regions except Northern, North East, Upper West and Upper East regions.

Meanwhile, in the race to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the poll said former President John Mahama continues to increase his lead over his rivals – former Finance Minister Dr Kwabena Duffour and former mayor of Kumasi Kojo Bonsu.

John Mahama is backed by 57 percent of voters, Dr Duffour, 12 percent and Kojo Bonsu 4 percent.

The poll also shows the president’s job approval rating declining from 34 percent in January 2022 to 27 percent in April.

Sixty-seven percent of voters disapprove the job performance of the president, resulting in net approval rating of 40 percent negative (approval minus disapproval).

On the question of whether voters believe the country is heading in the right direction or wrong direction, only 26 percent were of the view that the country is heading in the right direction with 67 percent saying it is heading in the wrong direction.
