Founding President and Chief Executive Officer of IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, Franklin Cudjoe has lashed out at President Akuffo-Addo for telling CSOs and public figures to call Mahama to order on ‘Akyem sakawa mafia’ comment.
According to the IMANI boss, Nana Addo called those same CSOs he’s calling today to call Mahama to order naysayers, perpetual doom, damp squib and Jeremiahs for criticising his government.
He further added that, the President and some of his appointees literally want them wiped out from Ghana and if they want them to speak for him on the ‘Akyem sakawa boys’ comment, then he should allow them to breath before they can come to his defense.
His full statement from Facebook reads;
The ethnic drab aside, when I heard “Sakawa”, “yahoo”, “mafia”, I wondered if these names did not exist or describe various acts. For instance, CSOs have been described by Nana Addo as “damp squib”, “perpetual doom and naysayers”, “professional Jeremiahs”, for their unbended policy activism. I realise though, that when Nana Addo charged at JM for his unrepentant reference to some actors in his government as “sakawa”, the President subtly suggested CSOs should speak up against such utterances when the Catholic Bishops’ Conference called on him. I have done so and called out JM. However, Mr. President, how do we speak up when you and some of your appointees wish us wiped out, from the surface of Ghana literally speaking,through deliberately designed government acts and utterances? To speak up in your defence, first allow us to breath. We respect you nonetheless, so much more, actually.
