Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu has expressed disappointment in Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta’s inability to account for the cost of President Akufo-Addo’s foreign trips.
Mr Ofori-Atta in Parliament last week said he lacked the capacity to talk about the President’s foreign trip as it’s a matter that must be refereed to the National Security Minister.
But speaking at a forum organised by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the Minority Leader said the evasive posture of the government on the issue is an affront to the Right To Information Act.
“The Minister of Finance is struggling to come and provide an answer to a question of Parliament on how much the President has spent on presidential travels, but this should not be difficult in a democracy. But understandably, I can see him struggling and hiding behind National Security and laws. To say a Minister of Finance does not know how much the President spent on travels is very wrong,” Haruna Iddrisu said.
