Akufo-Addo Should Subject E-Levy To A Referendum If He Thinks It Is Popular – Bernard Mornah

Bernard Mornah, the convener of Justice 4 Ghana, has challenged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to hold a referendum on the E-levy to gauge public opinion on the policy idea if he believes it is popular.

A national referendum on the E-levy, in his opinion, is the way to proceed.

“Given the level of division we have, the president should definitely make this policy a referendum policy and see if the president thinks it is popular or not.”

“If the president believes the e-levy is popular, he should put it to a vote and see what happens.” Is it the path to take?” On Tuesday, February 8, he said on 3FM’s Sunrise show with Alfred Ocansey.

If the president thinks that this e-levy is popular; he should subject it to a referendum and see what will happen. Is that the way to go?

Scores of Ghanaians including members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have rejected the E-levy proposal.

Following the rejection of the levy, further engagements are being done on the through townhall meetings.

Mr Ofori Atta further reduced the rate from the initial 1.75 per cent to 1.5 per cent after meeting with the Minority leadership as part of consultations on Friday January 28.
