President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has relieved Dodzie Numekevor of his duties as Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA). According to sources from Jubilee House, the decision to terminate Numekevor’s appointment is linked to concerns about the deteriorating state of the country’s football pitches.
The termination letter, dated 17 September 2024, was signed by Nana Badiatuo Asante, Secretary to the President. The letter directed Numekevor to immediately hand over his duties to the chairman of the NSA’s Governing Board. It further specified that Numekevor must cease acting as Director General by the close of business on the same day.
“I am directed by the President of the Republic to inform you that your appointment as the Director-General of the National Sports Authority has been terminated with immediate effect,” the letter stated.
The President also expressed gratitude to Numekevor for his service and extended best wishes for his future endeavors.
Dodzie Numekevor had been appointed interim Director General of the NSA on 26 February 2024, following the exit of Professor Peter Twumasi, who had held the role for six years.
