Akufo-Addo Messed Up The Economy Before Covid And Russia-Ukraine War – Afriyie-Ankrah

Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, an aspiring candidate for the General secretary position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), claims that the Akufo-Addo administration started ruining the economy even before the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the Covidia broke out.

President Akufo-Addo recently described how the coronavirus pandemic had a detrimental effect on the economies of Africa, especially Ghana. Ghana’s president told the international community at the 77th Session of the UN General on Wednesday, September 21 that just as Ghana and other African countries were trying to get out of the pandemic, the Russia invasion of Ukraine happened, compounding the situation.

A portion of Nana Akufo Addo’s speech reads;

“As we grappled with these economic challenges, Russia invasion of Ukraine burst upon us, aggravating an already difficult situation.

“It is not just the dismay that we feel at seeing such deliberate devastation of cities and towns in Europe in the year 2022, we are feeling this war directly in our lives in Africa.

“Every bullet, every bomb, every shell that hits a target in Ukraine, hit our pockets and our economies in Africa.”

However, holding a contrary view, Afriyie-Ankrah said the economy was in tatters before the war. “The credit rating agencies started warning before Russia Ukraine,” he stressed when he had an interview with Johnnie Hughes on TV3.
