President Akufo-Addo has effectively resisted pressure mounted on him by concerned Ghanaians to use his position as ECOWAS chair to prevail upon President Muhamadu Buhari of Nigeria to safeguard the lives of Nigerians protesting against police brutality.
Yesterday evening, news broke out about the unfortunate killing of innocent #EndSars protestors at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos Nigeria.
Armed Soldiers were said to have disconnected electricity and street lights, and opened fire on unarmed civilians leading to a number of deaths and various injuries.
Following the unfortunate incident, there were a number of calls from various celebrities and Ghanaian citizens, urging President Akufo-Addo to speak in his capacity as ECOWAS chair and at least call for calm.
However, it appears President Akufo-Addo is not interested in the calls just yet. A post made on the President’s official page this morning rather focused on his position on the ballot paper.
