Akufo Addo Has No Intentions to Bring Domelevo Back – Mahama

Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has stated that Auditor General Daniel Domelevo is not likely to return after President Akufo Addo directed him to go on leave.

Speaking in a live Facebook interview with TV XYZ, the former president quizzed why the door locks of someone on leave must be changed.

According to him, the president has no intention to bring him back. Furthermore, the Domelevo leave directive shows that President Akufo could order the Chief Justice, CHRAJ director and other independent bodies to proceed on leave.

“Look, the Auditor General, when you go on leave who changes your door locks? It means that there is no intention that you’re coming back and apart from that what is the…the Auditor General’s office is supposed to be an independent office.”

He added, “If the president can ask the Auditor General to go on leave, it means he can ask the Chief Justice to go on leave, he can ask the Electoral Commissioner to go on leave, he can ask the CHRAJ Director to go on leave, but these are supposed to be independent institutions.”

President Akufo Addo has been under pressure to recall Mr Domelevo back to work since he ordered him to proceed on leave. However, the many calls by these Civil Society Organisations have not yielded any fruits.
