Akufo-Addo Hands Over 1,500 Motorbikes To Police

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has renewed his pledge of cooperating with the Ghana Police Service to position them to be the best amongst its peers.

He assured the police service of increasing the number of Police motorbikes to 5,000 by the end of next year.

The President made the promise when he handed over some new 1,500 motor bikes to the Police today, Monday, 15 August 2022, as part of efforts to intensify targeted operations to areas known for notorious crimes.

The Community Policing concept, supported by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) through its “Programme to Build and Strengthen Police Structures” and being implemented in nine African countries, is to improve public trust in the police and enhance cooperation among the police and the citizenry.

The President handed over the motorbikes to the Police administration, at the National Operations Centre-Police Headquarters in Accra.

For his part, the Interior Minister, Ambrose Derry in his welcome address said there is more confidence in the police contrary to public perception that it is been manipulated by the executive.
