Investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has accused President Akufo-Addo of betraying the trust of Ghanaians after being voted into power.
In a write-up on social media he criticised the president of superintending over a government that is doing worse than what it accused its predecessor of.
He said Mr Akufo-Addo had accused former president John Dramani Mahama of conniving with Zoomlion to defraud Ghanaians yet hen he had the mandate he remained in bed with Zoomlion and continue to have an ‘unapproved’ shady deal with them.
“The NPP, in November 2016, their last major press conference before the election, told Ghanaians that Mahama was conniving with Zoomlion to defraud Ghanaians. The NPP said the contract had expired in 2013. It had not been renewed, but the government was paying money. The NPP was right,” Manasseh wrote.
He continued: “So what did Akufo-Addo do to that contract when he won power? One of the first things he did was to visit Jospong and shower praises on its CEO, Joseph Siaw Agyepong. And the contract they attacked Mahama over was extended.
“Between March 2013 and February 2017, that shady deal cost Ghana 1.62 BILLION GHANA CEDIS. There was no written agreement. There was no PPA approval. Nothing. But Akufo-Addo and his Attorney-General allowed the deal to continue when they came into office. And that contract still goes on under disturbing terms.”
Manasseh noted that if he’s unhappy with the President it’s because he betrayed his trust and many Ghanaians alike.
“So, when some of us are not happy with this man, it isn’t because we hate him. He has betrayed our trust. And it’s difficult to trust a man who is praising Jospong and saying Domelevo is working against the interest of the nation,” he intimated.
