Family of the late Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie aka Sir John has stated that only an announcement from President Akufo Addo can confirm if Sir John truly died of the novel Coronavirus.
Reports have suggested that the New Patriotic Party Stalwart died at the intensive care unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after contracting the deadly Covid-19.
However, brother of the late politician in an interview on Kasapa FM says the family is not aware of Sir John’s Covid-19 status.
He called for such rumours to cease and said President Akufo Addo will be the best person to pronounce the Covid-19 status of their beloved brother.
“He’s a government official and so if the government has not spoken about what killed him any other rumours you’re hearing cannot be confirmed for now. Let’s wait for Akufo Addo to speak on Sir John’s Coronavirus status. When the MCE of Takoradi died of Covid-19, President Akufo Addo publicly commented on it during one of his national broadcast. So if indeed Sir John died from Covid-19 the President will pronounce on it. So the speculations about what killed him must stop,” he said.
