Akuapem Poloo Regains Freedom After Meeting Bail Conditions

Actress and socialite, Akuapem Poloo has been released from the Nsawam Female Prison, Citinewsroom reports.

Akuapem Poloo was held in custody after failing to meet the bail conditions on Wednesday, April 21 and Thursday.

While she has been currently set free today April 23 after meeting the condtions, she’s expected to show herself to the police every two weeks, with the police keeping her passport to prevent her from travelling.

Akuapem Poloo was granted bail on April 21 by the Criminal Court 2 Division of the High Court at GH¢80,000 with two sureties, pending an appeal by her lawyer Andy Vortia.

Akuapem Poloo was on convicted on her own plea by the Circuit Court in Accra after pleading guilty to three charges, thus the publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence, namely conduct that in any way undermines another person’s privacy or integrity and engaging in domestic violence that in any way detracts or is likely to detract from another person’s dignity and worth as a human being.

She was sentenced to 90 days on each count but the court said, the sentence must run concurrently, meaning she will only serve a 90-day jail term which is three months.
