Airbus Scandal: Which Of Ghana’s Laws Stops You From Inviting Mahama? – Assibey-Yeboah Slams Amidu

Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah. has criticised Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu’s corruption risk assessment of the Agyapa Deal, particularly, where he cited former president John Mahama as the Government Official 1.

According to Amidu, he’s unable to interrogate Mahama because of his role as flagbearer of the biggest opposition party in the country ahead of the 2020 polls. There he’ll be looking into the case after the elections.

In response Assibey said, “This is a person who is telling us that Government Official 1 [in the Airbus Scandal] is John Mahama but he cannot invite him or question him because he is running for elections. Is this law?…Which law says that if someone is running for the presidency, he shouldn’t be questioned for wrongdoing?”
