The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi) has admitted it wasn’t likely for the NPP to grab all 47 seats in the Ashanti region during the 2020 polls.
Wontumi prior to the elections had stated that every single seat will be won, noting that “none will be left for the NDC”.
He further threatened to relinquish his position should he fail to achieve that feat.
However, in a recent interview, the NPP chairman admitted that indeed all those were mere campaign talks to boost morale of party followers.
According to him the comments were only to ensure executives put their best foot forward in order to retain the NPP in power.
