John Afful, a communications member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has slammed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for allegedly mismanaging the economy while in office.
He claims that the President promised to protect the country’s finances but has yet to do so.
“Despite all Akufo-Addo’s riches and money, he is still spending Ghana’s coins,” he stated on Neat FM on Wednesday. Arthur Kennedy is asking you if you are ready to face Ghanaians in the 2024 elections with the confidence that you have dealt with corruption and your people were unable to answer.”
“When we say corruption, we don’t mean you’re spending money personally,” he said, “but what are you trying to convey when your workers are participating in corrupt activities and you can’t say anything except clear them?”
John Afful’s remarks come in the wake of controversy regarding Togbe Afede XIV, the former President of the Council of State, returning an ex-gratia payment.
President Akufo-Addo and his appointees, according to the NDC Communicator, should learn from Togbe Afede’s conduct.
“We expected Akufo-appointees Addo’s to do that because they claimed to have their own funds,” she remarked. They claimed they wouldn’t use Ghana’s money for anything, that they were established people with businesses when they ran for office, and that they had the men, according to Akufo-Addo.
“Togbe Afede has set an example that Nana Akufo-Addo should ensure all of his appointments follow starting today.” He went on to say, “It’s a terrific example for Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.”
