Adutwum Is Worst-Performing Minister After Ofori-Atta – Agbana

Immediate past Deputy National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Eric Edem Agbana has described the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, as a “monumental failure”.

He said he admired the Minister while he was deputy to Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh in the first term of the Akufo-Addo-led government.

“I was one of his fanatics but I can say that he has been a monumental failure,” he stated on TV3‘s New Day on Wednesday, December 28.

The former University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC) President was contributing to discussions on the recent decision by some tertiary institutions to increase fees far beyond the threshold agreed by Parliament.

Not happy with this decision, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has directed the said universities to review the fees to be in line with the parliamentary directive.

Mr Agbana says but for the failure of the Minister of Education, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency, he should be able to get these universities to reverse their decisions.

“We are in crisis when it comes to education funding,” he stressed.

He said after the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, the Minister of Education is the worst-performing minster in the current government in his books.
