Lawmaker for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has endorsed an online petition to bar President Akufo-Addo from flying luxurious jets in his foreign travels.
The petition was set-up by some aggrieved Ghanaians who have been enraged by news of the President’s luxurious foreign trips.
Ablakwa joined the petition which is demanding that the President makes good use of the Ghana Air Force Falcon 900EX jet instead of wasting taxpayer’s money on luxurious jets.
Ablakwa had alleged that President Akufo-Addo spent a whooping GH¢2.8 Million of taxpayers money on a private jet to his recent trips to France and Johannesburg,
In a post on Facebook, the legislator said the president decided to rent an aircraft that cost the Ghanaian taxpayer £15,000 an hour.
According to Starr FM, Mr Ablakwa confirmed his allegations; stressing he has evidence to back it should the Presidency deny.
He further added that the President left Accra for Paris on the 16th of May and then from Paris to Johannesburg and back to Accra on the 25th of May accumulating a total of 23 hours amounting to a colossal £345,000. At the current exchange, the amount totals GH¢2,828,432.80.
