Abandoned Projects: Adutwum ‘Caught Pants Down Lying’; To Be Summoned To Parliament Again – Minority
The Minority in Parliament has accused the Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum of peddling falsehood when he told parliament that government has not abandoned any classroom block started by erstwhile Mahama administration, 3news has reported.
Ranking member on the Education Committee of Parliament, Peter Nortsu Kotoe, on a tour of some stalled educational facilities said, the current government had only completed those that were being funded by the World Bank and not the Government of Ghana.
To that end, he said the Minister would be hauled before the house again when the house resumes to answer some questions.
“Some were sponsored by the World Bank so that one they have no choice because it was an international funding, so they were forced to complete them. But those that were on Government of Ghana are those that have been left abandoned. So if we want our children to have quality of education or have access to education these projects must be completed so the students in these areas can have access to secondary education.”
Regarding Dr Adutwum’s comments, he said “Well, I can fault him because if he says the projects had not been abandoned, why do we see this one here? Five years down the lane, nothing had been done. It is only the first floor and that is how it has been for five years now. So he is not being truthful to Ghanaians.
“We are still going to bring the Minister back to the floor of the House .deputy Ranking has initiated that move and I am sure when Parliament resumes on Tuesday it is going to be part of the issues that we will handle as far as education is concerned.”
