Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stressed the critical role Covid-19 played to practically achieve government’s Ghana Beyond Aid agenda.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show, Dr Bawumia credited the deadly pandemic for the acceleration of the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda insisting the country was able to produce its own Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) for the first time.
He told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that Ghana is beginning to build an automotive industry where automobiles will be built and assembled locally so that Ghanaians will not have to import cars.
“Covid-19 has helped accelerate our march towards Ghana Beyond Aid. With the coming of Covid-19 helped us to practically implement the Ghana Beyond AID. The government is looking at encouraging domestic production and that could be seen in the production of the PPEs for the fight against Covid-19,” Dr Bawumia said.
