The Ashanti Region has received all necessary materials for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for December 7. The supplies, which include ballot papers, indelible ink, and other essential items, arrived in Kumasi on Sunday morning under tight security.
Efficient Delivery and Secure Storage
Dispatched from Accra, the materials are intended for the 47 constituencies in the region. Upon arrival, the items were transported directly to the Police Training School in Patase, located in the Nhyiaeso Constituency, where they were securely stored. This measure ensures the safety of the election materials and minimizes the risk of any potential threats.
Stakeholder Oversight
Representatives from major political parties, particularly the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), were present to witness the arrival. The Electoral Commission (EC) officials meticulously counted the materials in the presence of stakeholders, including high-ranking officers from the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Armed Forces, and other security agencies. This process ensured transparency and accountability in the handling of the election materials.
Preparedness of the Electoral Commission
The successful dispatch and receipt of these materials underscore the EC’s readiness to conduct the national elections. By ensuring tight security and involving all key stakeholders in the process, the EC has demonstrated its commitment to organizing a free, fair, and transparent election.
The materials remain under secure storage at the police depot until election day, with security arrangements in place to guarantee their safety. With just under three weeks left before the polls, this development is a reassuring step towards a successful electoral process.
