The Ghana Police Service has announced that Elrad Salifu Amoako, a juvenile charged with manslaughter, has been remanded by the juvenile and family court to a correctional facility. Amoako is set to reappear in court on November 7, 2024, facing eight charges related to a tragic accident that led to the deaths of two 12-year-old children.
The incident, which shocked the public, involved Amoako crashing into a vehicle occupied by five individuals, resulting in the fatalities. In connection with the case, Amoako’s parents and a shop attendant of his brother were initially detained by the police but later released on bail. As part of the court’s directives, Amoako’s travel documents have been submitted to the court to prevent any attempt to leave the country.
Earlier this week, his parents appealed to the court to protect their son’s privacy by requesting that the general public, particularly the media, cease circulating his images on social media platforms. Expressing remorse over the tragic event, Amoako’s father has defended his son, emphasizing that his son did not intentionally harm anyone. He suggested that public opinion has misconstrued the circumstances, underscoring that this was not an act of violence.
