Ga Mantse’s Lawyer Refutes Legitimacy Claims by Rival Adama Latse II

The legal counsel for Ga Mantse King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Nii Ayikoi Otoo, has refuted recent claims made by Boni King Tackie Adama Latse II, who asserts he is the legitimate and constitutionally recognized Ga Mantse. Adama Latse issued a statement on October 26, accusing King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II of unlawfully occupying the title.

Responding on Channel One TV on Monday, October 28, Otoo, who also serves as President of the Ga Dangbe Council, attributed delays in the legal dispute to actions taken by Adama Latse’s legal team. According to Otoo, both parties are currently before the judicial committee of the Greater Accra House of Chiefs. He explained that Adama Latse had previously sought a restraining order, which was unsuccessful, allowing King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II to continue performing all Ga Mantse duties until the case is resolved.

“It’s surprising that he wakes up and issues a statement that he’s the only Ga Mantse,” Otoo remarked, adding that “since I took over, we have been to court several times. The court has ordered that the parties should file their witness statements, but he [Adama Latse] has refused to file his witness statement and has not been attending court.”

Otoo emphasized that King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II is upholding the court’s directive to serve as Ga Mantse until a final decision is reached. He advised Adama Latse to comply with court procedures to expedite the case’s conclusion. “The best advice for Adama is that he should put his act together and come to court so that the matter will be determined once and for all,” Otoo concluded.
